Introduction
This guide is designed to provide players with strategies for playing Warrior-prime characters.
SlothMUD Basics
Warriors are the most basic fighting class available on SlothMUD. Their combat training, long practice sessions, high hit points, and elevated strength make them very formidable in weapon-based fighting. In addition, their ability to reach three and sometimes four attacks per round, it becomes quite obvious that these skills and pure class power are unmatched by any other class. However, they lack the ability to use magic of any sort and must depend on their other classes for these types of abilities.
While the most glamorous aspect of being a warrior prime is their innate ability to dish out incredible amounts of punishment, we must not forget their uncanny capability of protecting their fellow group members from danger. Skills such as parry and rescue have saved many lives of fellow comrades over the course of time.
The SlothMUD Warrior should:
- Choose a god by sacrificng a corpse at the god's altar.
- Once the warrior has a god, type list at the altar to see a list of holy items available from the god. Then pray for the item you desire. Holy weapons deal in extra damage which can be especially useful for the low-level warrior.
- Use damage based skills such as bash and kick to deliver extra damage in combat.
Level 1
First Steps
If you haven't already followed the First Steps Guide, make sure you go through the guide. The warrior class is perhaps the easiest class to master in SlothMUD.
Important Spells/Skills
- Kick: Gives the warrior an additional attack each combat round.
Areas to Explore
- Newbie College: This is really the best area for low-level warriors to gain experience. The level one warrior should be able to kill all of the basic mobiles in this area with little or no sleep in-between.
Strategy
- Start fighting the rats and cats in the Newbie College. See Guide:Combat if you're new to MUDs.
- Sacrifice a corpse at the altar in the Newbie College to gain favor from Splork.
- Complete at least one quest while inside the Newbie College to earn extra gold.
- Use the level command to keep an eye on your unused experience - once you have 2000 experience points, you should return to your guild, raise your level, and practice new spells.
Levels 2-7
Important Spells/Skills
- Rescue: Allows the warrior to protect one of his group members by directing the enemy attacks at himself.
- [[Skill:Swordsmanship]: Increases accuracy with weapons.
- Track: Tells the warrior which direction to travel to find the desired person or mobile.
Areas to Explore
- Newbie College: You should be able to defeat most mobiles in the area at level 1.
- Burbalangs: Start with the wandering Burbalangs.
- Chessboard: Start with the pawns.
- Village of the Kobolds: Start with the kobold youths and females.
- Penguin Vale:
- City of Ice:
- Grymlyns: Watch out for a sneaky thief!
- Medieval Circus:
Strategy
- Looks for weapons and items that increase you chance of hitting and amount of damage dealt. Use the online EQList to see the statistics for any new treasure you find.
- Alternatively, use the score command to see if the treasure improves your statistics.
- Rest between fights to give yourself plenty of hit points during combat.
- Sell any equipment that is substandard or unusable at the town shops.
- Start depositing excess gold at the town bank.
- Continue looking for and reading skill books.
Before Level 8
Before reaching level 8 Warrior it is important that you choose a secondary class and that you reach level 1 in that class. Once you reach level 8, SlothMUD will randomly roll your statistics and will assign them in order of importance. This order is determined by your primary and secondary classes. If you haven't chosen a secondary class by the time you reach level 8, your statistics will not be rolled and you will be left with lower statistics and be at a disadvantage.
In addition, you should choose a secondary class that fits your roleplaying or character style. The secondary class still provides advantages of that class - but to a lesser degree than if it was primary. Recommended secondary classes for the warrior are:
- Monk: The Monk class provides damage resistance and the ability to fight effectively while bare-handed. It is also the only combination of classes that provides a stat order with Strength and Constitution as the top two statistics.
- Cleric: The Cleric class is always recommended as a top 4 class due to its healing and protection spells. This allows the warrior to fight much harder mobiles.
- Necromancer: The Necromancer class specializes in summoning undead followers to assist in combat. This allows a warrior to group up a number of followers and to attack mobiles en masse.
- Thief: The Warrior's high strength will provide extra force and damage when starting a fight with the backstab skill. Also provides a stat order of Strength followed by Dexterity.
- Bard: The Bard class provides songs that can augment the warrior's ability to hit or add additional damage in combat. Also provides a stat order of Strength followed by Dexterity.
Levels 8-15
Important Spells/Skills
- Bash: Knocks opponents to the ground preventing them from casting spells or using special attacks.
- Endure Pain: Extra damage resistance for a short period of time.
- Frenzy: Additional damage for a short period of time.
Areas to Explore
- Mystical Fens: Stay away from the dragons - they will launch fireballs into neighboring rooms.
- Area:Waterfall: You will get pushed around by the currents, but the mobiles are not aggressive.
- Quickling Forest: Only the archers are aggressive at this level.
- Blaster's Temple: The bugbears are easiest but the invisible mages aren't too hard either.
Strategy
- Bash mobiles that cast spells or use special attacks.
- Level your secondary class(es) to augment your damage or to heal in combat.
Before Level 16
Many things change in the game once you reach level 16 that make the game harder. They include:
- Loss of experience and/or level upon death
- Corpse and items left in room upon death
- Many mobiles turn aggressive
- Hometown command no longer available.
It is recommended that you explore as much as possible and gain levels in your other classes before reaching level 16.

Make sure you finish everything on Valkyre. Once you reach level 21 you can not longer visit Valkyre so you'll need to finish any quests or forges beforehand.
