Instruments
The prime Bard gets an extra equipment slot, the instrument slot.

There is a set of special equipment items that can be worn in this slot that may also grant special abilities to the bards playing those instruments. By wearing an instrument, the bard gains access to the 'play' command. The instrument slot is used in conjunction with a prime Bard skill Adaptation to Circumstances.
The instruments typically grant three bonuses - duration, reduction of mana costs of songs, and adding additional targets for your songs to affect. For example, the very first instrument - the silver triangle has a 20/3/0 bonus, which translates to all your songs last 20% longer, cost 3 less mana, and no target bonus is added by the triangle.
