With this spell the druid weaves the sunlight into a physical barrier
that reduces the impact of blows and other forms of attack. The spell
only works if there's sunlight available, that is, outdoors and during
the day. For reasons that are not well understood, a protective halo
made of morning sunlight gathered just after sunrise lasts much longer
than one made of other grades of sunlight.

The reduction in damage is roughly comparable to that provided by a
cleric's 'shield of faith'.
