Each time you enter a command, you will see a prompt along
the lines of

<49hp 25ma 50mv>

This prompt shows your current status. You must watch it
closely during combat to tell when you are in danger of
dying. The first number (49 in the above example) is your
remaining hit points ("hp"). When this number reaches 0,
you will go unconscious. You will then bleed slowly until it
reaches -10, at which point you will die.

The second number is your remaining mana. This is the
magical energy used to cast spells (and sing bard songs).
Each time you use magic, your mana will be drained by some
amount determined by the puissance of that magic.

The last number is your remaining movement. Walking around
drains movement. If your movement reaches 0, you will have
to catch your breath before walking any more.

Hit points, movement, and mana all regenerate as time passes.
They regenerate faster if you are resting and even faster if
you are sleeping. In certain rooms, they regenerate faster
than in other rooms.

You can customize your prompt. To see your current prompt,
just type 'prompt' with no arguments. To change the prompt,
type 'prompt ' where is the new prompt string.
The string can include any normal characters, plus the following
characters with special meanings:
$m current mana, colored
$M max mana
$R current mana regen (you must be at least level 2x40)
$v current move, colored
$V max move
$b current move regen (you must be at least level 2x40)
$h current hp, colored
$H max hp
$B current hitpoint regen
$t time of day in mud (military-style)
$T time of day like in the "time" command
$x xp
$g gold
$n linefeed
$A alignment, scaled from -10 to +10
$$ just a $, for completeness
$Q fully qualified time in mud (i.e. 4:53 pm)
$a armor class (you must be at least level 8)
$w current weather if outside
$D current damage
$I current hitroll
$Z name of the zone that you are currently in
$c abbreviation of the continent you are on
$C full name of the continent you are on

For example, the old mortal prompt was $hhp $mma $vmv .
To return your prompt to default-simply type prompt default.
