The lowest layer is the stratum of Necromancy. In some way it<br />
seems to oppose the stratum of Healing - a definite malignant presence resides<br />
therein. Whatever this presence is, it assists magic used for certain<br />
purposes, providing far more power to the caster than one would expect from<br />
the most distant stratum, and completely hinders other purposes. It seems to<br />
like curses and spells having to do with the dead. Even clerics have found<br />
that this stratum is the most effective place to go for undead-affecting<br />
magics. Extensive contact with the necromancy stratum will shift your<br />
alignment towards evil; this especially includes controlling armies of<br />
undead.<br />
