The Unseen University is so called beacuse of its strange history: Back in the mists of time a student's experiment went aray, making the university invisible to the outside world. One day when everyone was out they lost the entrance, this was blamed on the librarian who was still miffed at being turned into an orangutan (This wasn't true, but it was a handy excuse). Since the destruction of the contient the entrance has been found again, and the university has been re-opened. The deep valley where the university was found is hidden in the wastes of Thule, it has a magical weather more pleasing to the faculty.
